THE Missy Lewis

As the often quoted line from Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” says, “A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” Basically what the heroin was trying to say is that our names don’t really make us who we are. But don’t they?
We are identified by our names, but the only name that really matters is the one we are given by our Father. Read about the journey from “Missylaneous Me” to “THE Missy Lewis.”

Following the Write Path

“Redirecting.” How often have you heard that from your navigation app if you make a wrong turn or miss an exit? Don’t you sometimes wish Holy Spirit would just say that loudly when we take a path that was not intended for us to follow? This happened recently to me as I made a spontaneous decision to take a detour off the path God had set me on. Find out how Holy Spirit redirected my steps!

Enough Already! Journey Toward the Heart of God

Time to say “Enough Already!” Through Christ, you are enough, sister! This archived post was my final post on Missylaneous Me and shares a little about my journey to enough-ness. I pray you will believe you are enough already!

Deal of a Lifetime: The Rug and the Rugged Cross

What do a clearance-priced area rug and the old rugged cross have in common? Really nothing at all, but how they contrast is another story. Learn how the purchase of that rug reminded me of the ultimate price paid for my sins…and yours!

A “Brand” New Conversation about Personal Branding

The concept of personal branding is really not a new one.  Branding really just tells the world who we are and are not, what (or Whom) we love.  Our “brand” describes our values and virtues.  It communicates our likes and dislikes, our passions, and what makes us tick.  Personal branding kind of happens automatically as we live our day-to-day lives.
I believe the problem with personal branding is when we attempt to brand ourselves as someone different than who we really are.  Back in the day, this was also known as being phony, fake, or a liar.  In my opinion, that’s still all it is, and we have become sooooo good at it.
No more “fake news,” beloved! It’s time to get real and bear the only brand that makes us complete. Are you with me?

Rejection: Facing the Giant through the Lens of an Approval Addict

Rejection. The mere mention of the word makes me shudder as it stirs up so many ugly memories. The enemy delights in stirring up fear of rejection in our hearts as we strive to chase the dreams God has placed in our hearts. But we don’t have to receive it!
Perhaps the greatest “rejection” of all was when Jesus bore all the sin of the world. Don’t think for a minute the devil didn’t try to keep Him from fulfilling His destiny, either! In spite of the rejection Jesus faced, he carried the weight of our sin up that dusty road to Calvary and sacrificed it all, knowing many would continue to deny Him.
God wants you to walk the road He has set you upon in order to carry out your destiny. Are you willing to follow Him?

Surprise! I Asked for Roses, God Gave Me a Red Petticoat

Don’t you just love it when you ask God for something very specific, but He’s like, “SURPRISE! I know you’ll love this even more!” Me, too!
Our Father God delights in giving us gifts! Read about how he blessed me with a gift for which I had longed, but never thought to ask for.

It Is for Freedom We’ve Been Set Free – Kick Those Chains Aside and Walk Out of That Cell

Are you more like a chicken or a duck? You may be thinking you’re nothing like those “fowl” creatures! (See what I did there?)
My friend’s ducks seem to prefer their pen to the freedom she offered them, yet my chickens gladly run into the freedom they are given each day. Jesus came to set us free from the bondage of our pits, so why do we act like those ducks and cling to the familiarity of captivity?
Be like the chickens, sister!

Blessings – Keep Your Eyes Open and Palms Up!

Unfortunately, we live in a broken world, and grief is something we must endure at times.  God understands sorrow.  The beautiful irony of our sorrow and sufferings is that God, who is the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, longs to comfort us.
Are you hurting?  Has sorrow seemed to move in and make itself at home in your heart?  There is a Comforter who desires to heal your broken heart. Are you willing to let Him in?

Fighting Words – Battling the Devil to Live the Dream

What do you do when you know God has placed a calling on your life, but the enemy’s lies whispered in your ear make you freeze in your tracks? You FIGHT!
Satan is a liar who is out to steal, kill, and destroy! Although he knows he can’t have us if we belong to Jesus, he wants to keep us a wreck so we cannot be effective for the Kingdom. Beloved, send the devil back where he belongs and live your purpose!
