What's Your Story?

Writing

“A day will come when the story inside you will want to breathe on its own.  That’s when you’ll start writing.”  --Sarah Noffke

My story is demanding to breathe on its own, y’all, and I am writing!

My heart is alive with a dream of writing the story of a good, good Father.  A Father who not only plants a dream in a young girl’s heart, but waters it and cultivates it and prunes it into a deeply-rooted, magnificent tree with branches filled with delicious fruit which nourishes the soul.

A tree which provides shade and a place to rest for a weary soul.  From which playful hearts can swing and adventurous souls explore.

William Wordsworth said it beautifully, “Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart.”

This space is for the breathings of my mended heart.

New Beginnings – 3 Exciting Announcements

New beginnings speak to my spirit in so many ways, as I’m sure they do to many of you. There are 3 new things happening here that I can’t wait to share with you! These changes have been a long time in the making, and it is my prayer they will bless and inspire you along the way.

Trust in the Process while Chasing after God – The Faith of an Okra Seed

Okra Seeds

Trust Issues I guess I have some trust issues. This became evident last Sunday in the simple planting of our vegetable garden. There are only a few veggies that we plant because we (I) either don’t like the others or have failed miserably at growing them in the past.  Okra is one we always plant!…

Following the Write Path

“Redirecting.” How often have you heard that from your navigation app if you make a wrong turn or miss an exit? Don’t you sometimes wish Holy Spirit would just say that loudly when we take a path that was not intended for us to follow? This happened recently to me as I made a spontaneous decision to take a detour off the path God had set me on. Find out how Holy Spirit redirected my steps!

A “Brand” New Conversation about Personal Branding

The concept of personal branding is really not a new one.  Branding really just tells the world who we are and are not, what (or Whom) we love.  Our “brand” describes our values and virtues.  It communicates our likes and dislikes, our passions, and what makes us tick.  Personal branding kind of happens automatically as we live our day-to-day lives.
I believe the problem with personal branding is when we attempt to brand ourselves as someone different than who we really are.  Back in the day, this was also known as being phony, fake, or a liar.  In my opinion, that’s still all it is, and we have become sooooo good at it.
No more “fake news,” beloved! It’s time to get real and bear the only brand that makes us complete. Are you with me?

Fighting Words – Battling the Devil to Live the Dream

What do you do when you know God has placed a calling on your life, but the enemy’s lies whispered in your ear make you freeze in your tracks? You FIGHT!
Satan is a liar who is out to steal, kill, and destroy! Although he knows he can’t have us if we belong to Jesus, he wants to keep us a wreck so we cannot be effective for the Kingdom. Beloved, send the devil back where he belongs and live your purpose!

Dream Big, Sweet Daughter – Pursuing the Desires of My Heart

I believe that, at some point in each of our lives, God weaves a dream into the fabric of our hearts. A dream that’s so big and so fantastic, that we need Him in order to see it come true. A dream that will glorify Him.
Maybe you have been running from, instead of chasing, your dream. Perhaps God has woven a great, big, out-of-this-world dream into the fabric of your heart, but you’re afraid to even acknowledge it because it seems too far fetched. Stop! Turn around and chase the God who gave you that dream, girl!

Waving the White Flag – Missylaneous Adventures in Starting a Blog

I’m Starting a Blog! Hey!  I’m starting a blog! A couple of weeks ago, I proudly announced to my techno-genius son, Eric, that I had taken the plunge and purchased a domain to launch my very own website. (I have no idea if that is the correct terminology, but it sounds right to me, so…
